OUR HISTORY
Once farmland for dairy and cotton, the Claremont Addition grew into a thriving East Dallas neighborhood in the 1950s and ’60s. Many families raised their children here and attended Bayles Elementary, Dallas’s oldest DISD school, founded in 1856 and still serving our community today.
Established in 1994, the Claremont Addition Neighborhood Association (CANA) works to strengthen community ties, enhance quality of life, and promote neighborhood pride and beautification. CANA also helped inspire the Ferguson Road Initiative (FRI), dedicated to building a strong and vital Far East Dallas.
CANA supports Bayles Elementary and local nonprofits, hosts events that connect neighbors, and continually works to make our neighborhood even better.
Please join us—become a member, volunteer, and help keep Claremont a place we’re proud to call home.

Held about twice a year, the CANA Wine Walk is a relaxed evening of strolling from house to house, enjoying wine, laughter, and great conversation. Each stop features a volunteer host—a great way to meet new friends and neighbors.
